Two people lauchinga boat in Findley Lake
Findley Lake

Findley Lake is a man-made lake that was formed when the hamlet’s namesake settler, Alexander Findley, built a dam to power his mill in 1815, thus creating the lake from two ponds. Watersports including boating, paddlesports and fishing are popular activities and ice fishing is permitted during the winter months when there is adequate ice coverage. Two boat launches exist, one NYSDEC boat launch that is for hand-launching only, and a second for trailered boats that is operated by the Findley Lake Association and is open to the public on weekdays only. The Findley Lake Association ramp is for trailered boats.

Findley Lake has an accessible fishing platform, boat mooring dock, and a separate kayak launching platform. The dock and platform are accessible from the parking lot, using a concrete walkway with railings.

Findley Lake provides angling for a variety of panfish and sportfish including large and smallmouth bass, muskellunge, northern pike and walleye. The DEC stocks pond fingerling walleye (5,000) in Findley Lake every other year to provide additional angling opportunity. Anglers should note that the lake experiences oxygen depletion below depths of 13 - 15 feet from June-September, preventing fish from living below these depths.
