The Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra enriches the lives of their audience within and beyond Chautauqua Institution’s gates through the power of symphonic music. The orchestra makes its home in the Chautauqua Amphitheater, the programmatic and community center of Chautauqua Instituion. With its simple wood construction and curved ceiling, good acoustics for music is assured. Wooden benches provide seating for approximately 4,400, while its three open sides give a sense of informality and spaciousness.
