Since the early 1970s, Mazza’s main focus has been creating Lake Erie wines of distinction, beginning with Mazza Vineyards in North East, PA. In 2005, they began a small craft-distilling operation across the stateline at the Mayville Mazza Chautauqua Cellars location, also offering a unique line of wines from their original location. Demand for distilled products grew, as did their thirst for offering customers new products to enjoy, and the expansion of the distillery became an obvious next step.
In 2013, Mazza Chautauqua Cellars moved to 80 acres of farmland in Westfield, NY, with the newly branded Five & 20 Spirits, along with an expanded offering of small batch distilled products including aged whiskeys and bourbon. The distillery operation was further expanded into a brewery in 2015, and Five & 20 Brewing was born. They now offer 3 “tiers” of beers (including barrel aged beers), with a large variety of beers in bottles and 6 taps in the combined tasting room, making Mazza Chautauqua Cellars / Five & 20 Spirits & Brewing New York state's first combination winery, brewery & distillery, dubbed "The Westfield Wonder."
When visiting the facility, you'll notice that it is surrounded by farmland which houses many of the grains used in spirit & beer production. Sample wines alongside spirits & beers, or ask for a tour of the facility. Step out onto the patio in the warmer months and relax with a glass of Mazza wine, Five & 20 beer, or a cocktail featuring Five & 20 spirits. Mazza has also recently partnered with "TimberFish technologies," which in 2017 launched its first commercial fish production farm on site at the farm in Westfield. In line with Mazza and Five & 20's vision of sustainability, this TimberFish project is using byproducts from the brewery & distillery to responsibly and resourcefully feed and grow fish along with treating wastewater to reduce pollution.
