The magical holiday season in Westfield begins with its annual “Christmas in the Village” festival.

Highlights include: Village and Downtown Shops and Restaurants, all dressed in Christmas Finery, offer Specials and Promotion; “Let There Be Light” Christmas Themed Parade; Hot Toddy Crawl; Christmas Tree Wonderland; Hall of Christmas Artisans Market; Santa Comes to Town; “Holiday Wine & Tea”; O Holy Night Manger Scenes; Carolers; McClurg Mansion’s “Holiday Open House” and Horse Drawn Carriage Rides.

This decades long tradition takes place on the weekend before Thanksgiving. Beginning on Friday, November 17th through the Sunday, November 19th, Christmas in the Village will make the quaint downtown district come alive with dozens of family friendly activities and events.

Friday night is Children’s Night! Although no one ever knows how they will arrive, Santa and Mrs. Claus come to town to throw the switch that turns on the beautiful Christmas tree in Moore Park. The celebration continues at the YWCA with treats, visits and pictures with Santa.

Saturday’s activities begin at 10:00 with the opening of the Hall of Christmas Holiday Artisans Market and O Holy Night, a unique, homemade collection of manger scenes, at Eason Hall. From 11-4 free Horse Drawn Carriage Rides that tour Westfield’s Historic District, load at Eason Hall. Enjoy the Hot Toddy Crawl throughout the village from 11-4. Look for the Hot Toddy sign in the window of participating shops and businesses. A village map and schedules of events will be available at downtown shops and on social media.

Saturday’s activities continue as Mr. & Mrs. Santa visit the Patterson Library to read stories to the children. Make and take activities are also available. The Grape Discovery Center is hosting a “Holiday Wine Tea” from 11:30-2. Wear a “Fascinator” to win a chance for a prize! Enjoy special holiday fare at our fabulous restaurants, visit our art galleries and don’t miss the Christmas Tree Wonderland at Blue June Blooms on Main!

The “Let There Be Light” Christmas themed “moving festival of lights” has grown in size and popularity since it began in 2018. Beginning from the WACS Parking Lot on Main at 5:00/dusk floats, walkers, tractors, cars, municipal vehicles, dancers, and musicians, will dazzle spectators with lights. Prizes! You must apply to be judged. Applications and details are available on our Christmas in the Village Facebook Page and at Eason Hall. Sponsored by Grace & Abe’s Brew Pub in Westfield.

Continuing on Sunday are: the Hall of Christmas, Carriage Rides, Grape Discovery Center activities, shops and restaurants open, and O Holy Night. Additionally, The McClurg Museum will host their annual Holiday Open House from 2-4. Stop in and enjoy a complimentary sweet treat at the recently redecorated and refurbished mansion, beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Last but surely not least, visitors to the village will enjoy looking at our beautiful store windows all dressed in holiday finery. They are a delightful highlight of the season in Westfield!

“We are so pleased to hold this event once again. This year’s festival will be better than ever! said Marilyn Hemmer, chairperson of the event. “I continue to be overwhelmed by the support of our local businesses and organizations, all of whom are working together to make this an enjoyable and memorable weekend. As always, Christmas in the Village serves to uniquely usher in the magical and joyous holiday season in Westfield.”
