A vertebrate is an animal with a backbone, and there are vertebrates of all shapes and sizes found in Western NY, including foxes, frogs, and robins. Explore real animal bones to learn how the skulls, teeth, and other animal bones can help you discover more about an animal’s lifestyle and diet.

Bones can tell you a lot about an animal, such as its size, what it eats, and even how good some of their senses are. Put on your detective hat, and see what clues you can gather as you explore both real and replica skulls and bones. Then try to put the clues together to figure out which animal they came from. After an indoor lesson, head outside to see what else you can discover about the vertebrates that live at ACNC.

A snack is provided after the hike and a craft is offered if there is time.

Special Information: This program takes place rain or shine, please dress for the weather.
