Dear Valued Tourism & Hospitality Business Owner,

There are things that business owners, managers, and marketers within the tourism and hospitality industry can do now to prepare while we await the phased reopening of businesses and attractions. The Chautauqua County Visitors Bureau hopes these suggestions are helpful as you plan:

Attractions should work with area lodging properties to develop package offers. CCVB will be interested in promoting these offers and is beginning to collect all package and promotion information now. Packages can remind potential visitors of the value and appeal of a Chautauqua-Lake Erie Region vacation.
Engage full-time residents. Create a package, offer, or promotion redeemable only by Chautauqua County residents. Like the rest of the world, locals have had their vacation plans postponed, canceled, or simply may prefer to enjoy close-to-home fun.
Consider amending your cancellation policy to be 100% risk-free, at least for a prescribed period of time. Visitors are more likely to book if they know they have the flexibility to cancel without penalty if needed.
Evaluate how you can communicate your health, safety, and sanitation protocols to your customers. These are concerns that will be at the forefront of peoples’ minds as they consider travel. Your protocols must be easily identifiable on your website, booking mechanisms, and other information resources.
Make a personal appeal to your current and potential customers —Ask THEM to visit YOU in your marketing and outreach efforts; create a "call to action.
