Celebrating the Spooky Season in Chautauqua County

Do you enjoy a good fright? As Halloween approaches, many destinations throughout the Chautauqua-Lake Erie Region embrace their spookier side with special events. Visit the historic and haunted Dunkirk Lighthouse and Veterans Park Museum for a nighttime tour and visit with the resident spirits. Embark on a guided ghost hunt by the local paranormal group "Village Haunts" throughout the grounds with equipment that help you communicate with any ghosts you may encounter.

Ride a horse-drawn carriage or take a leisurely walking tour through a cemetery on the Saints and Sinners Tours hosted by the Fenton History Center. Get into the spirit of Halloween and uncover some of the over 43,000 stories hidden within the cemetery including the tales of some of Jamestown's earliest inhabitants. Enjoy a late night, behind-the-scenes tour of the elegant mausoleums and graves-sites with stories of individuals and families who were laid to rest there told by costumed actors at the Mausoleum Tours, another seasonal spooky event hosted by the Fenton History Center.  Conduct a paranormal investigation of the Fenton mansion during Spirit Tours at the Fenton History Center.

Enjoy a family friendly spooky event at the Prendergast Library during their Haunted Library tours where visitors can take a guided tour of the library and meet some of your favorite spooky storybook characters.

Climb aboard a horse-drawn trolley and hear the tales of the Fredonia's founding families and some of the most notorious villains from around the area told by knowledgeable guides and if your lucky, from some the spirits that reside within the cemetery grounds on the Harvest Moon Cemetery Tours hosted by Festivals Fredonia.

Dive head first into the spooky season and attend one or more of these haunting events, but only if you dare! Check out our website event calendar to find even more Halloween events.
